Session 1: The economic forecast
Bryan Finn from Business Economics Ltd will present a comprehensive overview of the current economy. He’ll look at key economic indicators such as housing prices, consumer confidence and the views of industry leaders to determine how long the recession will last and whether there’s any merit to one Government minister’s assertion that there are already ‘green shoots’ of economic recovery.

Session 2: The student research
In light of government plans to create three-month internships for graduates during the recession, Neil Harrison of TMP Worldwide will explore student and employer views on internships and Industrial Placements (IPs). The research will cover everything from the value of internships and IPs, to whether they give students a competitive advantage, to why employers find them so useful (or not).

Session 3: The Careers Services overview
For the first time at Breakfast News, a representative of the Association of Graduate Careers Advisory Services (AGCAS) will join our panel of speakers. Anne-Marie Martin from the University of London will talk about the importance of University Careers Services both in the graduate recruitment process and as a source of up-to-date information on student attitudes, aspirations and behaviour.

Session 4: The graduate recruiter confidence snapshot
Carl Gilleard of the AGR will reveal what graduate recruiters up and down the country make of the current economic climate, how it’s affecting their recruitment plans and when they think things will improve.
